In WWDC 2024, Apple announced the news of iOS 18 coming later this year. This software update is considered the most advanced one, as Apple has officially launched a new AI technology named as (Apple Intelligence). The new version of iOS promises to revolutionize the way we interact with our Apple devices, offering an abundance of amazing features like significant upgrades to Siri, advanced home screen customization, and the list in the bucket is a lot more. 1. Customized Home Screen: In this update Apple has done a lot of work on Home and lock screen, iOS 18 allows you to customize your home screen layout completely by placing icons anywhere and customising layouts and colours of it. In addition to this, we have two new ways of securing our apps, first: we can completely hide the app from our home screen and app list, and second: we can set app lock in any app through Apple settings. 
   
2. Control Centre Customization:  The Control Centre is also redesigned this time for the first ever you can personalise the controls and size of the icons, by which the most used commands can be easily accessible. You can create a separate section of your music controls, home controls and many more in the control centre. 
   
3. Photos App: Your entire library will now appear in a more organised way than ever, if you take an abundance of photos then sorting and finding it out is made easier. Now photos apps automatically organize your library by topics like Recent days, years, trips, and people & pets. Moreover it also integrates a carousel which highlights the best moments in a poster-like view. 
   
4. Messages:  The Messages now gain new ways to express yourself, with new text upgrades  (like ability to animate letters, phrases, and add formatting like italics, underline, and strikethrough) as well as more entertaining emojis and animation effects. You’ll also be able to schedule a message to send later. Not even that Apple is now making it possible to send Messages via Satellite, so you can text while off the grid using the Messages app.
   
5. Safari:  Now with iOS 18 safari has introduced a new highlight feature, which detects relevant information on a web page and highlights it as we navigate. This is also going to help readers by displaying tables of content or summaries for long articles. As Apple says this highlight feature allows users to quickly seek information (like location of a hotel, restaurant, or finding particular address and much more). 
   
6. New Passwords App: Apple has introduced a new passwords app, which is going to store all of your credentials and passwords safely in one place. It also helps in sync passwords across all Apple devices.
   
7. Apple Wallet and Pay: Introducing Tap to cash feature, now users will only need hold two iphones together to send and receive money over Apple Cash. Apart from this Apple pay began supporting payments with rewards and with some instalment plans. 
   
8. Game Mode: Apple introduced a new game mode feature which will block all the background activities and notification to give you a more focused gaming experience. It also seems somewhere inspired from the game mode which comes in Android.
   

Apple Intelligence: 

After joining the AI party, the Apple intelligence is all set to transform the way we interact with devices. Starting off with a new era of Siri by integrating into our daily activities and learning from our habits and preferences, Siri will assist in a more natural way like never before, and ability to take action in and across apps is also increased. The new interface of Siri will blow your mind, now users can type to Siri if they don’t want to say their commands.

ChatGpt seamlessly integrated with AI, now your ChatGpt is accessible directly through Siri. So, no need to jump between the apps and by composing in writing tools you can easily create creative content from scratch.

As the announcement has been made at WWDC, a developer beta version of iOS 18 is released with early access to the latest features for developers. The stable version of the iOS 18 will officially be available in September 2024 alongside an Apple event.  Until then, we have to wait for its official release.
